The foundation, the framework of this book was written my senior year in 2005 while frequenting Health Services at the University of Notre Dame; I trekked across campus for two-hour visits, twice a day, for six weeks to receive treatment after fallout from a surgery that nearly took my life.

While chasing my NFL dream, some notes were taken, then the book was shelved. While entering the next chapter of life and partying my butt off — making up for lost time sacrificed to chase an athletic career — the book remained shelved. From time to time, I would reexamine the chapters and build: installing electrical, adding insulation, and hanging the drywall. Then more life, more things … the book was shelved.

After Covid-19, things (or rather, I) felt "off," so I began searching for the pre-pandemic me. I thought, "What better way to remember who I am than to finish what I started so many years ago?" So, I found the dusty shelf of yesteryear — relocating the "worksite." I added finishes, installed fixtures, and laid the hardwood floor. When it all felt "just right," final inspections were made by third parties and I conducted my final walk-through.

It is now time to put my work on the market for all to see. It's time to tell my story, to show you the past and let you walk in my shoes to experience one of the most — if not the most — unprecedented times in college football history for one of its most storied programs.

In reading this labor of love, I hope you find inspiration and entertainment. May you too remember who you are, and that you have the tools to adapt and overcome. May you find smiles, laughs, and those imperative tiny details hidden within the folds of memory. Thank you for taking time to remember the past with me. From my shelf to yours, I hope you enjoy.
